WANTED: ADULT DANCERS

for the 2009 Festival!

In 2008, we once again had a very successful dance section of the Sudbury Festival. The number of entries was up on 2007 and we had entrants of all ages – from 5 year olds to adults - and from all over the East Anglia region.

It was lovely to see so many familiar faces back again, plus some new entrants and dance schools – and extremely pleasing to be thanked afterwards for such a friendly atmosphere, with parents and teachers looking forward to coming again next year. When we know people enjoy themselves it makes all the work involved so worthwhile.

There is however one area of the dance section where we would like to encourage more entrants: the Adult Dance section.

There is one section for 18 – 25 year olds and one for 25 years and over. Both of these include Solo, Duets, Trios and Quartets and Group Dance. They are competitive and are adjudicated with a cup to be won – but it is all very friendly. The classes are for amateurs only.

The Group Dance, particularly, has always been very popular. It is for either gender, and includes song and dance, tap, comedy, salsa, line dancing, Scottish country, Irish, any ethnic, Egyptian, Indian, clog dancing, Morris dancing or whatever you do!

The Adult section of the dance festival is held every year on the Sunday evening of the dance week in February. For various reasons, many of the groups who have danced here for years in the past have either disbanded or left. We would love to see more entrants in this section in 2009.

If there are any groups out there who would like to be sent a syllabus in September 2008 for the Festival in February 2009, please email your name and postal address.

We would love to welcome you to our Festival next year.
